We’re ever so close to releasing the first beta version of the site… and then a simple run-through of the registration process turns up a bug! Seems like America Online doesn’t like to receive email from anyone else… so it’s back to the debugging. Hopefully this won’t hold us up for too long.

New front page, 'Featured Routes'
We’ve created a new front page for the site to show off the new features. You’ve probably seen it by now, but take a look here if you haven’t! For our site launch, we’ve selected a few of the world’s most popular marathons, a few examples of local routes, and a historical route just for fun!
This is just to get the site to a rolling start and show the site features to new users before they sign up. Try these routes for yourself:
- Little Rock Marathon 2006
- Stanford Campus Drive Loop
- L.A. Marathon 2006
- Toronto Marathon 2006
- Chicago Marathon 2006
- Boston River Loop – B.U. to Science museum bridge
- Boston Marathon 2006
- Stanford Dish Loop
- Montreal Marathon 2006
- Boston Freedom Trail
Any races you’d like to see featured? What do you think of the layout? Send us feedback or send a message to: ![]()
'My Places' editor
Now that you can create Places, you might want to rename them or even delete them, so here comes the Places editor to the rescue. A simple layout so you can do everything from one screen!

A new year & a new feature (Places!)
First off, Happy New Year!
I’ve just put the finishing touches (and worked out a few bugs) for “My Places”, letting you save particular points on the map for quick route starting drawing. Basically, it’s like a map bookmark. Say you typically start your runs from your front door, or from a particular trailhead.
With ‘My Places’, you can save that exact point on the map and save it as ‘home’ or ‘baypoint trailhead’. Since these may not be places you want to share with other members, ‘My Places’ are only visible to the user who created them!
Here’s a first look:
Inline location search
Added dynamic location searching from within the routedraw/routeview pages. Now you can get to a new place on the route editor with just one page load! Soonish this will be done with zero new page loads. Also, added a nicer looking dynamic error & message box.
