Austin Marathon on Valentine's Day ♥

austinIf you want to participate in a marathon while having a romantic getaway, go to Austin for Valentine’s Day weekend. This year, the annual Austin Marathon is going to be held on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2010.

The first Austin Marathon was held in 1992. This Boston qualifier event is a full and half-marathon for both runners and walkers. The course is relatively flat compared to many other marathons. As the city prides itself on being “The Music Capital of the World”, there will be live band performances on the race day as well as Health and Fitness Expo before the race day. According to Runner’s World Magazine, Austin Marathon is the Greenest Race in North America.

Don’t forget to fuel up for the marathon by eating high-carb foods and celebrate your achievement at the end of the race with live music and a cold beer. Good luck to all!

Honolulu marathon … running on a tropical island

honolulu

There are still a few marathons to run before the year ends. One of them is on a tropical island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and that is Honolulu Marathon (December 13, 2009). It is is among the 10 largest marathons in the world, with almost 25,000 runners participating each year. The registration for the marathon is still open. If you’re planning a trip to Hawaii and don’t feel like running a marathon, you can enjoy the festivities and participate in the Honolulu Marathon Race Day Walk which is a 10 km non-competitive walk. You can find the additional information at the official Honolulu Marathon website.
